The Story Behind ABCsons

ABCsons has an unmistakable feeling of cheer brought on by the complex interplay between patterns and colors. You can't help but feel happy when walking on the illustrated ABCsons set, or while flipping through the pages of your personalized book.  

The brand's roots can be traced to Southern California, where two passionate entrepreneurs Caroline Tran and Catherine Leo, took the first steps in a journey together.  

Beyond capturing beautiful imagery, photography had a much more significant meaning. Stemming from a desire to create legacies for her own family, Caroline grew to appreciate the art behind storytelling. This is where she would capture, then share, the stories that live beyond her subject.

As a wedding photographer, archiving and documenting legacies became a specialty of hers, often finding herself overseas.  

Caroline's eldest son used to travel with her while she would photograph destination weddings around the world. Through their travels, they began collecting ABC books. They would set to find an ABC book unique to the region and bring it back for keepsake. The book was a nostalgic way to remember where they traveled together. A tradition was born—and soon to follow, the birth of an idea.  

Derived from the alphabet theme, Caroline's interest in the ABC theme grew into a curious exploration and expression of her creativity. Sourcing objects from A to Z became her newest obsession.  What became a growing tradition between mother and son, later blossomed into a concept she desired to share with other families and bring to countless homes.

CAROLINE TRAN

ABCsons creator, Caroline Tran, is a natural-born innovator and storyteller. As a published and celebrated photographer most known for her work photographing weddings and families—Caroline excels in forming relationships that evoke trust. 

As a natural-born storyteller, Caroline desires to capture the stories that live beyond us. May it be through photography or other works of art, she invites her subjects to recount traditions and treasured moments that make people who they are.

At the infancy of her career, and with a Bachelor's Degree in Physics, Caroline taught physics to students in high school. Destined to follow her creative instincts, she left her career as a teacher and started exploring photography. What was once a hobby, transpired into a successful business in a very short period of time. 

It wasn't long before Caroline returned as an educator, but this time it was in photography. Caroline remains an inspiration as one of the industries leading photographers.

CATHERINE LEO

With exceptional execution, Catherine Leo has been planning and designing events for the last thirteen years. As the owner of CCL Weddings & Events and Modest Peach, Catherine embodies the natural characteristics of an entrepreneur.  

An affinity for all things color, Catherine is celebrated for creating colorful and bright events that capture the playfulness of her Southern California clients. Her creative approach is bursting with color. Throw in some confetti—and it's a party! 

Residing in sunny California, Catherine enjoys spending time with her family. Loving mother to her daughter Lucy, named after the infamous Lucille Ball, and an energetic Pekingese with a larger-than-life personality.
